Jack Dorsey’s bluetooth mesh communication experiment is interesting, but upon immediate interpretation a little redundant?

The bluetooth mesh allows messages to be transmitted up to 300 meters. But at that distance, you may as well just walk over and chat in person?

Of course, this is an oversimplified conclusion to what is probably only a momentary limitation — and could even be considered a feature. There are likely many scenarios where such a technology is not hindered by this limitation. Like communication securely with people in your office.
